The follow up to St Bernards Homilies for Advent!
“JESUS CHRIST, the Son of God, is born in Bethlehem of Juda. What heart so stony as not to be softened at these words? What soul is not melted at this voice of her Beloved? What announcement could be sweeter? what intelligence more enrapturing? Was its like ever heard before? or when did the world ever receive such tidings” St Bernard of Clairvaux
St Bernard instructs us on: The words of the Angel, “Hail Mary Full of Grace, the Lord is with thee.” How The Virgin Mary would have known how pleasing virginity is to God and he explains why the Holy Ghost needed to overshadow her despite already being full of grace. He expounds on the littleness of the infant Jesus and his followers. He also discusses what Jesus found on earth that he did not find in Heaven and much more!
